Inside delivery: what to confirm before the truck arrives

A checklist for receiving inside deliveries without surprises, from access and elevators to who signs the proof of delivery.

Access and route inside the building

Confirm the entrance the crew should use, the route from the truck to the delivery point, elevator availability and dimensions, and any doorway or floor limits. Freight that fits the truck does not always fit the hallway.

Checklist

  • Entrance, loading area, and parking for a 26-foot truck
  • Elevator size, weight limit, and reservation rules
  • Doorway widths and floor protection requirements
  • Building hours and security check-in

Handling and crew

State how the freight will be moved: pallet jack, dolly, or carried by hand. Stair carries, assembly, and rigging are not part of a standard inside delivery and need to be scoped as their own service.

Waiting time and sign-off

Agree who will be on site to receive, how long the crew is expected to wait, and how waiting beyond that is handled. Confirm who signs proof of delivery so the record closes cleanly.
